At least one person died and 162 were injured in a powerful explosion on Thursday at a warehouse near the airport of Tashkent in the capital of Uzbekistan, which caused a fire and broke windows of nearby apartments.

According to the Ministry of Health, a teenager died after a window frame fell on him, adding that 24 people were hospitalized but are not facing life threats, while 138 were treated for injuries.

Flights were operating normally at the capital’s international airport, said its administration.
Videos and photographs published on social media show flames rising to the night sky, with a huge cloud of smoke hanging over the warehouse, but the cause of the explosion was not immediately clarified.
